• -āն άτοἰλις կամ ἀπρίλιος բառից, որ ծա-գում է լտ. aprilis ձևից. բուն նշանակում է «երկրորդ», իբրև մարտից յետոյ երկրորդ ամիսը, ինչպէս ունինք quintilis (հինգե-րորդ) «յուլիս», sextilis (վեցերորդ) «օղոս-տոս». հմմտ. սանս. ápara-, հպրս. զնդ. apara-«վերջինը, երկրորդը», գոթ. afar «յետոյ», լատինի նախաձևը *aporo-s։ Լա-տինական տոմարի տարածման հետ այս բառն էլ անցաւ բազմաթիւ լեղուների. յի-շենք ի մէջ այլոց ֆրանս. avril, զերմ, april, իտալ, aprile, վրաց. აბრილი ապրի-լի, ռուս. aпрeль ևն ևն (Walde 52--53)։-Հիւրշ. 367։
• Տաթև. հարց. 201 համարում է ծագած մի իմաստասէրի անունից։ Ուղիղ մեկ-նից ՀՀԲ։ Ըստ Benveniste Bsl д. a3 էջ 68-74 լտ. aprilis չէ՛ թէ ծադում է *aporo-s «երկրորդ» բառից, որ չէր կարող գոյութիւն ունենալ, այլ *apru ձևից, որ ետրուսկերէնի մէջ գործածա-կան էր՝ իբր կրճատում Aφροδiτη «Ասա-րիկ» աստուածուհու անուան (այլուր ❇αοω)։ Ինչպէս մարտ և մայիս, նոյն-պէս և ապրիլ նուիրուած էին աստուած-ների անուան.
• ՓՈԽ.-Հայերէնից փոխառութեամբ կայ գւռ. թրք. Ակն. abrel, Կր. abril (Բիւր. 1898, 626). հայերէնից փոխառութեան ապացոյց է b ձայնը։

• = Եբր. [hebrew word] saf «կոնք» բառի յգ. [hebrew word] siffōϑ ձևից այլափոխուած։ Եբրայական բնագրում մեր բառի դէմ այժմ գըտ-նում ենք [hebrew word] has-siffim «կոնքերը». որ յիշեալ [hebrew word] sat բառի յոգնակին է. բայց Եօթանասնից գործածած օրինաևում անշուշտ եղել է [hebrew word] sirtod ձևը՝ որ նոյնպէս յիշեալ [hebrew word] sat բառի յոգնակին է։ Հունարէն թարգմանութեան ժամանակ այս բառը տառադարձուել է σαφφωმ, որ յետոյ եղել է ἀφφϑ0 և άπφωϑ. առաջին երկու ընթերցուածները մնում են զանա-զան ձեռագրերում, իսկ վերջինը ընդու-նուած է իբրև մայր ձև։ Նոյնը ունեցել են նաև մեր թարգմանիչները իրենց օրինակում, որից և տառադարձրել են հայերէնը։ Այս ռառի դէմ ունինք վրաց. საბფოთი սապ-փոթի «կոնք», որ ենթադրում է յն. σαπσωϑ. այս էլ բռնում է միջին տեղը σαφφωϑ, 32-φωϑ և ἀπσωϑ ձևերի։
