I. dar-«ճեղքել», 2. dar-«հսկել», 3. dar-«ունել, պահել» (Bartho-lomae, 689-690)։ Արդ՝ յիշեալ ձևերը սրանցից որի՞ն են պատկանում։ Bartholo-mae, 693 դնոմ է «ունել, պահել» արմա-տից, որով հյ. դարան «ծածուկ տեղ, թա-քըստոց» նոյնանում և միանում է ճիշա նախորդ դարան «պահարան» բառի հետ, ինչպէս դնում են և մեր բառաբանները, և սրանց համեմատ էլ Հիւբշման։ Բայզ կա-րելի էր նաև դնել առաջին արմատից (dar-ճեղքել), որով զնդ. darana-նոյնանոմ է սանս. dārana «փապար, խոռոչ, ծերպ» բառի հետ և հյ. դարան «թաքստոց» բառի նախնական իմաստն է լինում «լեռան մէջ ճեղք ևն», ինչպէս ցոյց է տալիս վրաց. դարանի «քարայր, ճեղք՝ ժայռի կամ հողի մէջ»։ Այսպէսով իրարից բաժանւում են հյ, դարան «պահարան»=սանս. dhárana=զնդ. dārəna և հյ. դարան «թաքստոց» = սանս. dārana=զնդ. darana, առաջինը սանս. dhar = իրան. dar «ունել» արմատից, երկրորդը ւանս. dar=իրան. dar «ճեղքել» արմատից. վերջինիս հետ հմմտ. և սանս. drnáti, dāra-yati, պհլ. daritan, պրս. darridan, աֆղան. dāral, լիթ. diru, յն. δέρω, հյ. տեռել, հնխ. der-«ճեղքել, պատռել»։ Իրանեան լեզու-ները զանազանութիւն չդնելով նախաձայն d և dh ձայների միջև, երկու տարբեր բա-ռերը ի հարկէ մէկ ձևի պիտի վերածուէին։ -Աճ.
