[arabic word] pul «5 փէնս արժող դրամ և ընդհանուր առմամբ՝ դրամ», թրք. [arabic word] «'/︎ ստակ=1/շ2օ դահեկան= /ვo կոպէկ. որ հին ժամանակ գործածական դրամ էր», ատրպ. pul «դրամ». գնչ. polia «մի քանի տեսակ ոսկեդրամներ» ևն։ Այս բոլորի մայ-րը պրս. pūl բառն է, որի հնագոյն և առա-ջին իմաստն է «ձկան թեփ», նմանութեամբ յետոյ դարձել է «դրամ»։ Այս իմաստը պա-հում են դեռ թրք. pul «ձկան թեփ», պրս. նուազական [arabic word] putak «ձկան թեփ» և յատ-կապէս Ղրբ. փօղ «ձկան թեփ», որի ղ ձայ-նո ցոյց է տալիս՝ որ բառիս այս իմաստը հայերէնի մէջ էլ շատ հին է։ Տե՛ս նաև վերը փիւղ։ Նշանակութեան գարգացման համար հմմտ. պրս. pišiz «թեփ. 2. դրամ» > հյ. փշիտ։

• պրս. pml բառից։ ՆՀԲ «որպէս ըմե, փուլ, ֆուլ, ֆիւլիւզ, յն. ֆօ՜լլիս, օվօլօ ս, լտ. օպօ՜լուս»։ Հիւնք. պրս. pul, Հիւբշ, 387 դրած է յն. φόλλις «մանր դրամ» բառից, որ փոխառեալ է լտ. follis «կաշիէ քսակ, մի քսակ դրամ» բառից (կապ չունի յն. φολίς «սողունների թեփ» բառի հետ որին ուրիշ ծագում է տալիս Boisacq 1033). բայց այս յոյն ձևը հազուագիւտ ու անսովոր մի բառ է և հառիւ թէ մինչև Հայաստան տարա-ծուած լինի։ Միւս կողմից փող բառի արդի գործածութիւնը միայն Կովկասի հայոց մէջ՝ նշան է թէ բառը իրանեան է։
