• = բնիկ հայ բառ՝ հնխ. al «աղալ» արմա-տից. ամենամօտիկ ձևն է յն. ἅλευρον «ա-լիւր»։ Հարց է թէհայբառը փոխառութի՞ւն է յունարէնից, թէ նրա հետ միասին պատկա-նում է հնխ. al=հյ. աղալ արմատին, որի վրայ մանրամասն տե՛ս առանձին։ Lag. Ur-gasch. Arm. 904, Arm. stud. § 28, Bugge KZ 32, 40 և Meillet (անձնական) համարում ևն թէ հայ բառը փոխառութիւն է. հին հայոց ծանօթ չէր ալիւրը. նրանք գործածում էին կորկոտ կամ ձաւար, այսինքն ցորենը պար-զապէս սանդի մէջ ծեծում և այնպէս խոշոր խոշոր եփելով ուտում էին. աղած ալիւրը ա-ռաջին անգամ յոյներից անցաւ մեզ՝ Պոն-տոսի վրայով։ Ընդհակառակը Pictet 1, 277 և Հիւբշ. չեն ընդունում, որ այսպիսի հասա-րակ ու սովորական մի բան փոխառութիւն լինի։ Վերջին կարծիքին ի նպաստ կարելի է յիշել բնիկ հայ. աղալ, աղօրիք, երկան ևն բառերը, որոնք ցույց են տալիս, թե ջաղաց-պանութեան արհեստը սկզբից ծանօթ էր հա-յոց։-Հիւբշ. 414։
