• ՓՈԽ.-Յոյն պատմիչներից Կոստանդին Պերփերոժէն կայսրը իր Պատմութեան մէջ երկու անգամ յիշում է հունգարացոց նախ-նական անունը՝ Zαβαρτοιάσφαλοι (կարդա՛ Սավարտիա՛սփալի)։ J. Türy հունգարացի գիտունը Századok թերթում (1897, էջ 317-403) աշխատում է ցոյց տալ թէ յոյն բառի առաջին մասն է հյ. Սևորդի, իսկ երկրորդը՝ յն. ἀσφαλεῖς «արի, ամուր»։ Ըստ նոյն հե-ղինակի՝ Սևորդիները Մաճառ ազգի նախնիոն են, հաստատուած էին Պարսկաստանում և երկար ժամանակ անկախ մնալուց յետոյ՝ Հայոց իշխանութեան հպատակեցան. 921-ին Կոստանդին կայսեր դէմ պատերազմի դուրս եկան (տե՛ս ՀԱ 1898, 88ա)։ Թօփչեան, Po-litische und Kirchengeschichte Arm. 1905, էջ 201 նոյն Սևորդիներին է կցում Կոստ. Պերփերոժէնի βερβότιοι ձևը (De Cerem. aulae Byzant. II, 48, 687) և արաբ պատմիչ Մասուդիի [arabic word] siyāvardī ձևը։ Ըստ Մասուդիի սրանք հայ էին և քաջ ժողովուրդ. նշանաւոր էր յատկապէս մի տեսակ պատե-з-րազմական կացին, որ իրենց անունով կոչ-ւում էր [arabic word] ︎ assāvardiyya։
