(վկայութիւնը տե՛ս կողմն բառի տակ). սրա համապա-տասխանը դժբախտաբար չունի Կաղանևատ-ուացին, բայց թէ թւում է որ պէտք է հաս-կանալ «նենգաւոր, խարդախ», իբր նկանը կամ հացը խորող, ինչպէս պրս. nānkor (հացին կոյր նայող, ապերախտ, անաղու-հաց)։
• -Պհլ. *nikan ձևից, որ կազմուած է ni բայական մասնիկով kan «փորել» արմա-տից. հմմտ. զնդ. nikan «հողը փորելով մե-ջը թաղել». nikanta «թաղուած, խորուած». ըստ այսմ նկան<*nikan նշանակում է «թաղուած» և յատկապէս ցոյց է տալիս «մոխրի տակ թաղելով եփուած հացը»։ Պհլ. *nikan բառի այս վերջին նշանակութիւնը աւանդուած չէ գրականութեան մէջ. իրանեան միւս ձևերը, որոնք ձայնապէս փոքր ինչ նը-ման են (այսպէս՝ պհլ. [other alphabet] nān, բելուճ naγan, սոգդ. nγn-, մինջ. naγn, պրս. [arabic word] hān. օրդ. nan, nāīi, non, զազա nāñ, na, դուժ. nōn), ծագում են *naγna-«հաց» բա-ռից և գործ չունին *nikan ձևի հետ. սակայն ունինք խորազմ. kand «հաց» (ըստ Ալ-Բիրունի), pknd «հաց» (ըստ Բուրհան-ի-Կաթիի), որոնք գալիս են նոյն kan արմատի անց. դերբ. kanta-«թաղեալ, թառուած» ձե-ւից և անուղղակի կերպով հաստատում են nikan «հաց» բառի գոյութիւնը։

Abhd. 298 khan արմատի տակ։ Նոյն, Arm. Stud. § 1626 յիշում է խո-րազմ. pakand և ենթադրում է որ նկան լինի «մոխրի տակ եփուած հաց»։ Jus-ti Dict. Kurde 416 կցում է նոյն իրան-եան ձևերին։. Հիւնք. ունկն բառի սեռ ունկան ձևից։ Հիւբշ. Arm.
