(Ագաթ. ունի գրծ. դեղօք. յետնաբար նաև ի հլ.). առաջին և հիմնական նշանակութիւնն է «խոտ». այս իմաստով տ-ռանձին գործածուած չէ, այլ միշտ ղալար բառի հետ իբր «կանաչ խոտ». այսպէս՝ «Եւ խոտ նորա նուազեսցէ և դեղ դալար անդ մի՛ գտցի» Ես. ժե. 6. «Լիզանիցէ արջառ զդեղ դալար ի դտշտի» Թիւք իբ. 4. «Նուազութիւն խոտոյ և ամենայն դալար դեղոյ լինի» Ոսկ, ես. 163. «Մի՛ ելզէ ի վերայ նորա ամենայն դեղ դալար» Օր. իթ. 23. «Ո՛չ գտցի ի նմա դեղ դալար» Ես. իէ. 10. (այս գործածութեան հետ հմմտ. խոտ դալար դարձուածը. «Ամե-նայն խոտ դալար ի կերակուր» Մն. ա. 30. «Ժողովես զխոտ դալար» Առակ. իէ. 25)։ Բա-ռիս առանձին գործածութիւնը պահում են վրացին և գաւառականները (տե՛ս տակը)։-Խոտերը հին բժշկութեան մէջ կազմելով հի-ւանդութեանց գլխաւոր դարմանը՝ այս դեղ ռառն էլ սկսաւ կամաց կամաց գործածուիլ «բժշկական խոտ» նշանակութեամբ. այս ի-մաստով գտնում ենք գործածուած Լաբուբ. էջ 5 և Իմ. ժզ. 11 «Ջի ոչ դեղովք և արմա-տովք բժշկես դու, այլ բանիւ», «Ոչ դեղք և ոչ սպեղանիք բժշկեցին ղնոսա»։-Այնուհետև աւելի ընդհանրանալով՝ սկսաւ նշանակել «ա-մէն տեսակ դարման, դեղ» ՍԳր. Եզն. Պիտ. Փիլ. և այս ընդհանրացումը պատճառ եղաւ. որ բառի նախկին նշանակութիւնը գործածու-թիւնից դադրի, ասպարէզը թողնելով խոտ հոմանիշին։ Նշանակութեանց այս զարգա-ցումը տեղի է ունեցած Ե դարից շատ առաջ։ Վրացերէն մղելո მდელო «խոտ» բառը, որ հայերէնից է փոխառեալ, հակառակ վրացե-րենի սովորական վերջաձայն ի յանգին, ունի ո, որ ներկայացնում է հյ. բառի ո բունը (դեղ-դեղոյ). այս բանը ցոյց է տալիս թէ բա-ռը փոխ է առնուած ա՛յն ժամանակ, երբ հայ լեզուն իր բուները դեռ կորցրած չէր. հետևա-բար նաև «խոտ» նշանակութիւնը այս ժամա-նակից է։-Դ դարի վերջերում «խոտ» նշա-նակութիւնը կորաւ. և ահա դրա համար է, որ Ե դարուն հազիւ նրա մնացորդներն ենք գըտ-նում, իսկ Ե դարից յետոյ՝ բնաւ։ Բայց դեղ «դարման», ինչպէս Ե դարուն, նոյնպէս և մինչև այսօր սովորական է։-Դեղ «դար-ման, ճար» նշանակութիւնը յառաջանա-լուց յետոյ՝ նոր փոխանցումներով ձևա-ցան հետևեալ նոր նշանակութիւնները.-«թոյն» (իբր վնասակար դեղ կամ խոտ) Բ. մակ. ժ. 13. Վեցօր.), մաղձադեղ Եզն., մկնդեղ Բժշ., դեղուն «թունավորուած» Շշունի ԱԲ) Պտմ. կիլ. 205, սևադեղ Սե-բեր., գրադեղ «մելան, թանաք» Վրք. հց.. կարմրադեղ Փարպ., դառնադեղ Ոսկ. ապաշխ., թմբրադեղ Յայսմ., կապըն-դեղ, հացադեղ, խաշնդեղ, ճակնդեղ բոյ-սերը։ Նոր գրականում՝ դեղագիր, դե-ղատոմս, դեղատուն, դեղավաճառ, դեղա-վաճառանոց, դեղատուփ, դեղափոշի ևն։-Դեղ բառի հետ ծագմամբ նոյն են՝-Դալար «խոտ, կանաչ, մատղաշ». կազմուած է դալ արմատից՝ -ար մասնիկով (տե՛ս և առան-ձին).-Դալուկն «դեղնացաւ», կազմուած է դալ արմատից՝ ուկն մասնիկով (տե՛ս և ա-ձին). նշանակութեան զարգացման համար հմմտ. տճև. սարը «դեղին» և սարըլըք «դա-ւուկ», ֆրանս. jaune «դեղին» և jaunisse «դալուկ» ևն.-Դաղձն «վայրի անանուխ» կազմուած է խոնարհ աստիճանի դալ ձայն-դարձից, որ աճած է ձ աճականով, բաղա-ձայնի պատճառով լ դառնալով ղ. «խոտ» նախնական նշանակութիւնը պահում է դեղ (տե՛ս և առանձին)։-Դեղին «դեղին գոյնը». կազմուած է դեղ արմատից՝ -ին մասնիկով, նշանակութեան զարգացման համար հմմտ դալար, դալուկն և յաջորդները (տե՛ս և ա-ռանձին).-Դեղբ «դեղին». կազմուածբ ա-ձին).-πեղե, կազմուած դեղ արմատից՝ ձ աճականով. բուն նշանակութիւնն էր «դե-ղին», որ յետոյ կորտւ. գոյնի պատճառով այս բառը յատկացուեց ծանօթ պտուղին. հմմա. պրս. ❇ šaftrang, որ նշանա-կում է բուն «դեղնագոյն», բայց գործածւում է դեղձ պտուղի համար. նոյնպէս [arabic word] saflalu «ռեղձ», որ ստուգաբանօրէն նշանա-կում է «դեղին սալոր». գրեթէ նոյն բանն է նաև պրս. [arabic word] zardālū «ծիրան», որ բուն նշանակում է «դեղնակարմիր սալոր» (տե՛ս և առանձին)։ Դեղձ բառի հին նշանակութիւ-նը յայտնի կերպով ցոյց է տալիս՝ Դեղձան «դեղին», որ կազմուած է դեղ արմատից՝ 3 աճականով և -ան մասնիկով.-Դեղձն «վայ-րի անանուխ». գրականութեան մէջ գործա-ծուած չէ և ենթադրւում է միայն Ղրբ. տէ՛խս-նը ձևից. կազմուած է դեղ արմատիզ ճիշտ այն ձևով՝ ինչպէս կազմուած է դաղձն բա-ռը ղալ արմատից (տե՛ս դաղձն բառի տակ),

• ՓՈԽ.-Ցոյները և ռումինացիք ունին ար-ցիվո՛ւրիօն (άρτζιβούριον), արցի՛վուրցի (άρτζίβουρτζι), արթէզֆօռթէզ ևն ձևով բա-ռեր, որոնք փոխառեալ և յարմարեալ են մեր Առաջաւորաց Պահոց անունից, որի վրայ այ-լակերպ առասպելներ են պատմում։ Առաս-պելի հնագոյն վիճակը գտնում ենք Ճառ ընդ-դէմ Հայոց խորագրով յունարէն ընդարձակ մի գրուածքի մէջ, որ վերագրւում է ԺԱ-ԺԲ դարից Սահակ անուն մի հայ կաթուղիկոսի, բայց հաւանօրէն Եւտեմիոսի (ԺԲ դարից) կամ Կալլիստոսի (ԺԴ դարից) խարդախու-թիւնն է (տպ. Migne, Patr. gr. հտ. 132)։ Այս Ճառի մէջ մի առանձին գլուխ կայ՝ որի վերնագիրն է Γερί τῆς σατανιϰῆς νηστείας τοῦ αρτζιβουρίον (Յաղագս դիւական պահոց արցիվուրի, Ա. գլ. ժդ)։ Ահա թէ ի՛նչ է պատմւում յիշեալ գլխում. «Սարգիս անու-նով մէկը, Հայոց մոլորութեան վարդապետ, մի շուն ունէր արցիվուր անունով։ Սակայն այս բառը նշանակում է «առջևից գնացող» (առաջաւոր)։ Սարգիսը սատանայի ազդեցու-թեամբ այս շունը գործ էր ածում իբրև իր ռաւստեան աւետաբեր և յայտարար, ամէն անգամ՝ երբ մի գիւղ, մի քաղաք կամ մի ուրիշ տեղ երթար, ուր իր մոլորութեան ժան-տախտից բռնուած աշակերտներ էին բնա-կում։ Երբ սրանք տեսնում էին շանը, յա-ջորդ օրը թափորով մի քանի մղոն տեղ ընդ առաջ էին գնում իրենց վարդապետին։ Մի անգամ՝ երբ շանը սովորական պաշտօնով մի տեղ ուղարկեց, գայլերը ճանապարհին պատառեցին նրան։ Սարգիսը երկրորդ օրը գնալով նոյն տեղը և տեսնելով որ ոչ ոք իրեն ընդ առաջ չի եկել, ինչպէս սովորութիւն էր, սաստիկ բարկացաւ։ Երբ քաղաք մտնելով ի-հասած, մարդիկ ուղարկեց փնտռելու համար և գտնուած ոսկորներից գուշակելով թէ գայ-լերն են կերել, հրամայեց ամենայն Հայոց՝ որ ամէն տարի, սահմանեալ օրեր, նրա մահուան համար ծոմ պահեն ու մեծ սուգ բռնեն. և այս պասը կոչեց արցիվուրց պաս»։-Նոյն առաս-պելը գտնում ենք նաև Աֆթիմիոս Սեկտատի-նոսի Զէն կատարեալ գրքում. Նիկեֆորոս Կալսթասի Պատմութեան և Աթէնքի Միլե-տիոս արքեպիսկոպոսի Եկեղեցական պատ-մութեան մէջ, որ Ջենատիոս Սքոլարիոս սար-կաւագի ձեռքով համառօտուելով տպուած է նախ Զմիւռնիա (1861) և յետոյ արաբերէն թարգմանութեամբ՝ Երուսաղէմ (1867), այն ժամանակի յունաց Երուսաղէմի պատրիարք Կիւրեղի հրամանով։ Սրա իններորդ գլխի թարգմանութիւնն ունի Երուսաղէմի Սիօն ամ-սագիրը (Չ տարի, 1871, մայիս, թիւ 5, էջ 100), ուր մեր բառը դարձել է յն. արթէզֆոո-թէզ կամ արթէզֆոռ։ Առասպելի մի ուրիշ ձևն ունին ռումինա-ցիք, որոնց մէջ բառը դարձել է արցիվուրցի։ Ռումին առասպելի մէջ արցիվուրցի է կոչւում մի հայ աւագերէցի շունը։ Աւագերէցը անտա-ռով անցնելիս մոլորուել և այդ շան միջոցով կարողացել է գտնել ճանապարհը։ Հայերը աւդ շունը սրբերի կարգն են դասել և ի պա-տիւ նրա՝ Ս. Սարգսի բարեկենդանին պաս են պահում և Զատկի թաթախման երեկոյին էլ նրան նուիրուած մի տօն են կատարում (տե՛ս Պ. քհ. Մամիկոնեան, Ռումանահայոց ներկան և ապագան, Կալաց 1895, էջ 44-45)։
