Zimmer «սենեակ» ևն։ Իսկ այս հնխ. dem-, demā-«շինել, կառուցել» արմատն էլ համարւում է աճած՝ պարզա-կան dē-«կապել» արմատից, որի ժառան-գըն է հյ. տի «կապ» (Pokorny 1, 187, Walde 241, Trautmann 44, Berneker 210-211, Boisacq 195, Kluge 544)։ Լիթ. դար-ձել է բառս՝ նախաձայնի փոփոխութեամբ (որի պատճառը յայտնի չէ) nāmas, սովո-բաբար յգ. գործածութեամբ namai, ճիշտ ինչպէս այժմ՝ Երև. տներ՝ փոխանակ տուն։ Հյ. տուն յառաջանում է հնխ. dōm ձևից, սակայն domu-ձևն էլ պահուած է տանու-տէր բառի մէջ (տե՛ս Ernout-Meillet 271)։ -Հիւբշ. 498։
