Նչ. և Երզն. քեր. համարում են ճանաչել բայի արմատը. այսպէս է մեկնում նաև ՆՀԲ։ Սխալ է, որովհետև այս պարագային պիտի լինէր -ճանաչ կամ -ծան։ Վերի ածանցներից մի օա-նիսի մէջ -ճան նշանակում է «սիրող, ցանկացող, մոլի». այսպէս են ճակա-ճան, գինեճան, տիրաճան. թերևս նաև ճոխաճան, դաւաճան. այս պարագային կարելի էր թերևս համեմատել հպրս. danah ձևի հետ.
