Մծբ. «քուրձէ պարկ, չուվալ» Վրք. հց. որից խորգահանդերձ Բուզ. խորգազգաց Լաստ. խորգեղէն Յայսմ.-ՀՀԲ խորգ բառին տալիս է նաև «մազէ չուանով հիւսուած խառա-ղան» նշանակութիւնը, որ սակայն վկայու-թեամբ հաստատուած չէ։-Անյայտ իմաս-տով է գործածուած Ոսկ. պօղ. ա. 315 «զնո-ցանէ զխորգ ինչ ածիցես զմտաւ», որ հռա-տարակիչը առանց բացատրութեան ուղղում է «զնոցանէ զի՞նչ ածիցես զմտաւ»։

Ֆրան-սիայում մինչև ժՋ դարը, Գերմանիայում մինչև ԺԸ դարը։ Բառիս բուն աղբիւրը գեր-մանական է. հմմտ. հբգ. hanap, hnapf, մբգ, napi, գերմ. Napi, հսաքս. hnaep, հոլլ. nap, նոյն նշ։ Գերմանականից անցաւ լատին և ռոման ընտանիքին, ուր ունինք ստ. լտ. ha-nappus, anappus, nappa, իտալ. napрo և հֆրանս. hanap։ Դժուար է կարծել թէ նոյ-նից յառաջացած լինին նաև հսլ. konobu, ko-nobi, ռուս. конобъ, конобь «լւացքի տաշտ, պտուկ, փայտեայ կուժ» (Kluge 345, Boi. sarn 534.
